#1 Choose your location

Asheville has plenty of options for great urban-style images. Consider locations like the River Arts District, which features colorful murals and industrial backdrops, or Pack Square Park, which has a beautiful fountain and plenty of green space. You could also head downtown, where you’ll find eclectic architecture, charming alleyways, and fun street art.

Have fun exploring the city and select your favorite activities like getting ice cream, beer, coffee, or maybe just getting high up to enjoy the skyline! This can play such a fun and massively important role on #2

#2 Decide on your Vibe

Think about the overall style and theme you want to convey in your photos. Do you want a vintage, bohemian vibe? Or a modern, edgy look? Choose clothing and accessories that reflect your style, and discuss with your photographer how to incorporate any props or other elements that will enhance the theme.

Your Images can also have different perspectives, Do you want the more traditional styles of posing or a more candid date-like feel? This will come into play as you choose a Photographer who has a style of photography that you enjoy.

#3 Plan Your Timing

Asheville can be a busy place, especially during peak tourist season. Schedule your session during a time when the locations won’t be too crowded, and when the lighting is optimal. Early morning or late afternoon are typically the best times to shoot, as the light is softer and more flattering. It is also important to make sure there won't be anything happening in the city on your date like events, large concerts, rallies, or other times when people will be drawn to the city

#4 Consider the weather

Asheville has a mild climate, but it can be unpredictable. Check the forecast and plan accordingly. If rain is in the forecast, consider rescheduling or finding an indoor location for your shoot. The city offers some beautiful interior spaces like the Grove Arcade

#5 Relax and have fun!

Finally, remember to relax and enjoy the experience. Engagement photos are meant to be fun and romantic, so let your personalities shine through and have a great time with your partner. This is your time to laugh, think about how far you have come as a couple, get excited about your wedding, and just love each other!
